Today my 13" Campagnolo's should have arrived from Hungary. But they didn't. And won't be coming this weekend either I suppose. Not that terrible as I still have to find proper tires for them (the Alpina's have 13" 185/60 wich are not the correct size, should be 185/70) and these are hard to find as no one seems to make them capable of speeds over 190 km/h. Except Michelin but they are 400 euro each. And that's a lot for a 13". Any suggestions?

Luckily something else arrived by mail today, the gaskets for the tranny. But the Getrag 245 I got of a E21 doesn't seem to like to be put in 5th so I'll have to have look into that (or rather: have to have looked into that as transmissions are a complete mystery to me) first:

Then I'll have to get the transmission conversion kit from !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and another problem should be solved.

190km/h? What, do you commute on the autobahn?

I'm assuming that you're working on a BMW 2002? I did a five speed conversion on one of those a few years back.

Could you fit 195/65s? Not sure whether there's more availability there.

I'm slightly concerned about tyres as well. My Spit's going to need 175/70 13s, and it's sure as hell going to be capable of over 120mph. Most likely over 130.

No, but I live nearby it and will track it and run historical rallies! Also: I think it's obligatory to mount tires over here (Europe) capable of doing the top speed.

It sure is, converting my 2002 Touring to a tii engine and mouning a Getrag 245. But as you've done it already: did you use the kit from Aardvarc or machine things your self? Did you change your diff? And what engine was it?

Not sure if they'll fit without changing fenders, as standard they had 165s. They sure will fit the J6-Campagnolo's. But I just checked Delticom: 195/65 isn't available in 13". 195/60 is. But that will be Nankangs and I don't believe I got any trust in those.

Drat. What about 175/75s?

I wonder if there's any companies that make tyres specifically for vintage cars. They probably won't be cheap either, but they might be cheaper than 400 euros :S

Mine was a base model 1975 2002. I'm a metal fabricator by trade so I altered all the parts myself. I thought I had a better design for the transmission mount, but discovered that I wrong there. It worked fine made it difficult to drop the transmission. I was on a budget so I used the stock diff. I made it point o look for a LSD whenever I was at the local junk yard but never found one.

I bought some Fulda's for the Dino in the past, maybe I'll try over there. TRX-tyres should be even harder to get nevertheless.

And do you still have the designs/measurements of the altered parts? Then I can have them machined myself. LSD's are even harder to find for reasonable prices.

I believe I was able to get all the dimensions off the internet. It's a very common upgrade for these cars. I remember when I took. In the drive shaft to be shortened the guy working there just asked if it was a five speed upgrade for a 2002' and that wall the info he needed. It was surprisingly easy. Then it was just cut down and reweld the shaft for the shift mechanism, and the mount for that. I seem to remember they get shortened 3 1/8 inches.

One more thing: the transmission mounts that are sold online for this that bolt through the transmission tunnel look like a good design. I moved the bolt clips back and made a mount that bolted between them, but the clips got in the way for dropping the transmission. The ones sold on the internet are a better design.
